A signing ceremony for the book Yousry Nasrallah
At Luxor public library, a signing ceremony for the Book “Yousry Nasrallah: conversation with Ahmed Shawky” was held with the presence of the filmmaker Yousry Nasrallah, the book author Ahmed Shawky, the festival president the scenarist Sayed Fouad and the festival manager Azza el Hosseiny
This signing ceremony of the book printed by the festival, comes within the honoring of the Egyptian filmmaker Yousry Nasrallah during the 6th edition of LAFF. His famous film “Bab el Shams” “Gate to the sun” was projected yesterday with the presence of the filmmaker, several critics, and local audience.
In his speech, the filmmaker Yousry Nasrallah salutes the festival and his guests, and send a great salutation for the Mauritanian filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako who was honored in this current edition of LAFF as well. He also called for more care about this great African filmmaker and his films
Nasrallah described himself as a complexed character and that the conversations in the book with the critic Ahmed Shawky was consecutive in a special order that describe his way of thinking. He also expressed his appreciation for the courage filmmakers who dare to break the traditional rules in the cinematographic industry and challenge all the taboos in the society
Nasrallah also spoke about his film “the Gate to the sun”, which was projected the day before and the reasons behind producing that film to support the Palestinian cause, and the difficulties he had faced while making this film.
The Book “Yousry Nasrallah: conversations with Ahmed Shawky” comes as biography of a very important Egyptian filmmaker, his films and ideas that dare to defy the taboo of the Arab mentality.
